OVERVIEW

The goal of this workshop is to provide you with a clear, straightforward painting process, so you can spend more time capturing the beauty of color and form, and less time worrying about materials or application.

Using the powerful but surprisingly simple methods and philosophy taught to students at the École des Beaux-Arts, the Académie Julian, and other 19th century schools, we’ll learn how to manage our tools, match color accurately, and paint the largest structures freely, while allowing room to refine and integrate smaller details seamlessly.

At the end of this course, you’ll understand how to build the figure in manageable steps and how to express your ideas with confidence, giving you a solid basis for further exploration and a path to develop a personal approach.
